We are committed to protecting your privacy. This section explains our policy and practices for the collection and storage of information throughout our site.
We recommend using reasonable discretion when providing web sites with your personal information. Remember, that whenever you post your information to publicly accessible areas such as chat rooms or message boards, that information is available to anyone with access to the Internet. Therefore, we recommend not posting any information that you don't want to be seen, in these public areas.
What information do you collect?
At different times, we may collect four types of information about you.
1. We may assign a Cookie to your computers web browser, which automatically identifies your computer - not you - to our servers when you visit the site. Cookies, by themselves, cannot be used to find out who you are. Your cookie feature can be turned off in your browser preferences - although you will not be able to utilise some of our services. The majority of cookies on our site are for your convenience, such as to list new posts since the last time you visited.
2. Your computers IP address, type, and which browser you're using is also collected to gather general demographic information about you. This information helps our web administrators diagnose problems with our server, it helps our web designers better design the site, and it helps us give broad demographic information to sell advertising space. This might include information regarding traffic patterns and search queries for example.
3. At specific times we may ask you to provide us with personal information in order to register for a service - for example with the New Zealand WebLinks when adding a link etc.
4. You may also be required to provide credit card details when purchasing a product or service that requires payment. All transactions are protected through encryption and are never disclosed to a third party not directly involved in the transaction.
We have put in place restrictions so that only select individuals at newzealand.co.nz have access to this information, as well as the user who initially entered that information with services such as the New Zealand WebLinks. In both situations, the information is accessible only after a password has been entered.
You may choose not to provide us with all or part of any requested information, however this may limit our ability to provide you with a specific service or offer.
What do you do with the information collected?
All the data we collect is used to improve your experience when visiting our site. For example, when adding a WebLink to the New Zealand WebLinks, the information you give is firstly used to validate the WebLink, and secondly to keep you informed of changes, offers, or news relating to the WebLinks directory or parent site.
We may also infrequently contact you to ask if you're interested in participating in market research regarding our site. You are welcome to ignore the messages if so wish. The market research is used to monitor feedback on our current services, or a new service we are considering to offer through the site.
Who do you share the information with?
newzealand.co.nz will not disclose any of your personal information to a third party without your consent, unless we believe, in good faith, that the law requires it, or that the rights or property of newzealand.co.nz needs to be protected. We will share general site-wide information with third parties to sell advertising, which includes the overall number and frequency of visitors to the site.
Correcting and updating your information
In most of the services, users can modify their personal information through links on those pages. For example, when modifying an entry in the New Zealand WebLinks, users can update the contact persons information and email address.
Deleting / Deactivate
Your information can be removed from our database on request, but this will also remove you from any of the services to which you have subscribed. For example, removing your personal information from the New Zealand WebLinks database, would also mean removing all your listed WebLinks, as that information is required for registration.
Links to other sites
newzealand.co.nz contains links to other sites not affiliated with newzealand.co.nz. These sites have their own policies and practices with respect to online privacy, and newzealand.co.nz cannot be held responsible for their privacy practices or the content of their sites. In addition, a newzealand.co.nz advertiser may ask you for personal information and we cannot be held responsible for their privacy practices either; however, newzealand.co.nz encourages our partners and advertisers to adopt privacy policies similar to our own.
